Profile
As captain of Bermuda Irvine has worked hard with Gus Logie, the coach, to instil a level of professionalism into the players which was lacking in previous years. He is a powerful striker of a cricket ball, as Zimbabwe discovered during his 62 in the Tri-Series in the West Indies during 2006. He also showed his ability as a capable offspinner by picking up two wickets in that match although he has used himself sparingly in recent months, bowling just two overs in five matches in the recent World Cricket League in Kenya. He holds the distinction of scoring the first ever ODI century for Bermuda in August 2006 when he smashed five sixes and thirteen fours against Canada in his 147 ball 101. His other innings of note came after Bermuda had lost all their previous games in the World Cricket League and in their final match, against previously unbeaten Scotland, they chased down 269 with Romaine finishing unbeaten on 85 from 86 deliveries in a huge confidence boost to the squad before the World Cup in the Caribbean.
