The ICC today announced details of the umpire and match referee appointments for the upcoming ODI series in Abu Dhabi and the Afro-Asian Cup in India.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 finalist Sri Lanka will play Pakistan in a three-match ODI series in Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, starting this Friday (18 May). The series will be overseen by Javagal Srinath of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees.
For the first ODI, the on-field umpires will be Mark Benson of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and Suresh Shastri from the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires. The third umpire will be Russell Tiffin, also of the Emirates International Panel.
The second ODI will take place at the same venue on Sunday 20 May. The on-field umpires will be Shastri and Tiffin with Benson as third umpire.
The third and final ODI in the series will take place on Tuesday 22 May, again at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, with Benson and Tiffin standing and Shastri taking care of third umpire duties.
The Afro-Asian Cup will take place in India next month in a three-match ODI series with an Africa XI going head-to-head with a Asia selection. The series referee will be Chris Broad of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees.
The first ODI will take place in Bangalore on 6 June while the second and third, on 8 June and 10 June, will take place in Chennai. All three matches will be umpired by Tony Hill and Peter Parker of the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires. The third umpires for the series will be local appointments, yet to be confirmed.
Appointments for other upcoming fixtures including the ICC Intercontinental Cup final between Ireland and Canada at Grace Road, Leicester 22-25 May, will be announced in due course.
